“When my team and I are cooking, we use family recipes from our birthplaces in Asia”, says Pensiri Pattanachaeng, one of the head chefs at Shakahari. “For me this means Bangkok - I’ve brought my favourite dishes from home with me, and I import my ingredients from Thailand.” Such authenticity is one of the reasons why this signature vegetarian Asian restaurant, which also offers Chinese, Japanese and Indian food, has a waiting line of guests stretching out of the door most days.
But it’s not just the quality of the food that guests adore at Shakahari - it’s also the quirkiness of the presentation. On arrival, you are ushered towards three Evo grills, where delicious fresh appetisers are being made. “You can stand with the chefs, interact with them, and order whatever you like”, says Pattanachaeng.
